Alex Brooks - Crofton Park Labour candidate

Crofton Park Thursday June 18

Crofton Park is a brilliant place and I want to be our local champion. We now have a Green mayor of Lewisham and two Green councillors in Crofton Park.

At this by-election, you have the chance to elect a Labour councillor who you can trust to be a strong voice for Crofton Park.

About me

I know the difference a Labour government makes. Growing up in Corby, a town devastated by the closure of the steelworks, I saw how Labour rebuilt lives by investing in schools, reconnecting us with a long-awaited train station, giving families real hope. That opportunity meant I became the first in my family to go to university, where I served two terms as Students' Union President at the University of Greenwich, representing 30,000 students across the South East.

Those same values of fairness and opportunity drive me now in Lewisham.

In my career I've held senior partnerships roles, managing budgets, leading teams, and making tough decisions that deliver results. In the Party, I've been Chair of Ladywell Labour for three years and before that led campaigns in Lewisham Central.

Outside of work, I am vice-chair of a Lewisham housing charity that provides homes for older residents in the borough.

Standing to be your Crofton Park councillor is the natural next step, bringing together professional experience and grassroots commitment to campaigning and community service.

My pledges

These are my pledges to the residents of Crofton Park.

  • Local champion for Crofton Park: As a local opposition councillor I would be entirely focussed on what's best for us.
  • Support our local charities: I want to use my experience as a Lewisham charity trustee to help more local charities.
  • Campaign to tackle speeding: Safer crossings and by working with the police to organise community speed watch events.
  • Support Gorne Wood: I'll work with the Fourth Reserve, our local MP and cross-party to help save this vital green space.
  • Safer and cleaner streets: I’ll campaign for more CCTV to catch flytippers, increase enforcement, and encourage effective and affordable large-item collections and recycling.
